I am facing an awkward situation. I've just been given a date to appear for the citizenship test.
On the pamphlet that was included with this letter, it said that I must bring my Confirmation of Permanent Residence document (IMM-5292) with me to the test.
Well at the time I became a landed immigrant no one gave me any documents that bore the numbers IMM-1000 or IMM 5292. I've searched high and low, and I have all the documents that I was given at the time I became a permanent resident, but there is no IMM-5292. I am certain given I careful I normally am with important documents, had I been given this document IMM-5292 that I would still have it safely tucked away with all my other important documents.
So what do I do now? ..Is my permanent resident card good enough in lieu of this document called the IMM-5292? Be obliged to anyone who can kindly shed some light on this matter.
Brian.

I have the same problem. I am in the process of applying for citizenship - and these forms are required. I was never given these - I applied for my PR from w/in Canada, is this why I don't have one? Will I lose my $200 payment fee if these are not included in my citizenship info that I send to them? Please advise |

it would be better if you call CIC and find out but out of curiosity how could you apply for PR card when you didnt have IMM5292 or IMM1000(either one)

I guess I filled it out if you needed them for PR, but we had an immigration lawyer help us. He does not have my paperwork any more. It is hard to get to a real person when you call. Thanks for your help suggestion. |

...........Well, so as it turned out, apparently there was no problem. I applied for my citizenship on the 30th of November 2006, and I got a letter requesting that I go for my citizenship exam on the 22nd of Feb. So I went, did the test, and as far as I can tell, I passed it with flying colours. They did ask me about these documents at the test also, and again I gave them the same answer, (that I didn't have them) But I was allowed to sit for the test. So hopefully I will be getting letter one of these days requesting that I go to take oath and the swearing-in ceremony.

Brian: Since you did not have landing documents, which other documents were asked for in your test? How long it took for you to talk with officer before you were allowed to write the test
Thanks for sharing this info
