Hi Skilledworker

Glad u got the interview letter...having that in ur hand makes it easier to prepare for everything in advance..I wanted to ask u also whether u got the standard interview letter, I actually got one from a friend of mine on this forum, so wanted to verify if its the same.

The documents they have asked u to submit to the receptionist at the time of interview:
1.Interview letter
2.Original letters of no record/Police Clearance
3.Passports

Then a separate page which states during the time of the interview they may ask for any of the following and to have these documents and present it only if asked. The documents are as follows:

1.Birth Certificates
2.Marriage Certificates (if applicable)
3.Divorce Certificates (if applicable)
4.Educational Certificates
5.Complete school transcripts of children (if applicable)
6. Employment Reference Letters
7. Current Immigration Status in country you are currently residing and proof of employment
8. Current bank statements
9. HRSDC Approval (if applicable)
10. Proof of any adaptability Factor
11. English/French Assessment Proof

Would appreciate your response on this.
Thanks

Skilledworker,
I think I have the same interview letter: it's not asking for police clearance or proof of funds or anything else other than standard stuff. I have a feeling that they just send out generic letters without looking into our files. So I'm planning to bring everything anyway - maybe it will save me some time in the future.

Hi Skilledworker and Scherie,

I got interview waiver with the medical first. Then 14 months later, I got an interview letter with the date and location at Buffalo.

After the interview, the interviewer did not tell me whether I passed or not, I was told that the information of the interview will be passed on to the immigration people and they will decide. I did the interview last April and I still did not get anything. I emailed Buffalo manytimes and I got the background check in process response.

HI guys.

CAIPS showed that reason for interview is because the letters from the employers were vague in regards to my duties and they noted that the same time I was working, I completed my MBA so they are questioning that!

Well the interview is about 2 months away, so at least I know what it is about and I will definitely get a more detailed job experience letter.

Interiew Result: Positive

According to the email notes on my caips the officer responsible to do verification of my work experience wrote… numbers seem to be out of service, even the numbers listed in the phone directory. “Interview to further examine the documentation”. What is surprising me is that this particular visa- post is not far from the MINISTRY in charge of the government department I used to work for; they could have requested the new numbers from them if at all the numbers have changed. In fact the letter of confirmation of my appointment came from this ministry which I gave them.

Secondly since the file was transferred on 24-02-2005, to XX visa post, why write me these two letters, the first one on the 7th March 2005 saying …. Interview required, four possible places listed where this could take place and suggested that I should inform them if I would like to have the proposed venue changed. It further went on to say that once the transfer has happened they could be no change of venue. The second one sent three days later written on 10th March, informing me that the file has now been transferred to one of the location listed on the first letter. I received these two letters almost the same day.

The interview was fine though I had problems getting a US visa.I got my PPR a week later and landed on 11 march 2006. The interviewing officer was very nice and the interview lasted only for 45 minutes.

SELDEC:0
MEDDEC:0
FINDEC:0
I can’t find why they have called me for an interview. The score on I.A shows a total 0f 71 points no break down .Can someone please help me where to look in CAIPS notes " reason for interview

I have given all information correctly and also mentioned i have had a divorce and have a issue who is an adult now. But have no contact with them for last 15yrs, as they live in another country. I have two children now and all this is mentioned as i filled my application and i have been living in U.S for the last five years.Recently got my FBI clearance and PCC from India which i will take with me on the date of interview .The only thing i can’t figure out what is the reason for my interview.

Interview Result: Positive

I had my interview on 10th May 2006; was the first person to be interviewed. It lasted for 55 minutes the officer told me that i would be assessed on point system and then he asked me for all documents .He asked me about my previous/prsent work experience and some technical questions, I was surprised because all information that I had got from the forum was different. I was tense and was getting a feeling this guy is in a bad mood .I think he was trying to see how fluent I was with English. He asked for the following documents: Degree, Transcript, Bank Statement Letter from Employer and Divorce certificate .He told me to get the Divorce certificate translated in English. Medicals are still pending in Ottawa done on 12th January. Finally he said your application has been accepted and you can pay the landing fee. The last question he asked me that you are well established in US, Why do you want to go to Canada?. After leaving the interview booth he came back to the window and told me to get the document-translated from Urdu to English from a certified translator in US. Now I just have to get the document translated and get medical clearance .I paid the landing fee immediately after the interview.

What was your answer for why you want to move to Canada?
I answered that crime rate in US(L.A) was high and i wanted to raise my childeren in a safe country.
Did you have to give him letters from ALL your past and present employers, or just recent one?

I had all the letters which i alredy had submitted with my application but i gave him the present one.The Guy was very serious.

16. Pagla

Interview: May 15th 2006

Interview Result: Positive

It went well and took only 15 minutes. Interviewer (she) didn’t ask me any question, just wanted to see my documents, such as educational certificates and US immigration status, nothing else. After that she told me she is satisfied without asking me any question. I passed the interview, however, didn’t like the way LA office work, they are slow and don’t know how to behave by default.

A lot of people asked why LA is slower; I found out that all of the visa officer or employees in LA office are oriental (or at least look like Chinese), with all due respect to oriental people .

She didn´t mention anything about PPR, may be she doesn´t speak very well or may be she is too shy to speak

I paid fee and did the medical.

Any way the guy and the lady both are rude, they need to go to school to learn how to behavior in a civilize society; I completely understand that they are immigrant, you must adopt the better.
It takes anywhere from 5 to 12+ months under normal circumstances to have interview after file is received by interviewing visa post in US.

I had my interview in June actually at the Detroit office, I am a Buffalo applicant, it was pretty good, my wife and I were prepared and it went pretty smooth. The officer showed great profesionalism and knowledge of the case, and she asked me questions about my job experience and also she conversed in French with me and my wife who is French, and she also checked the originals of the degrees and Transcripts and she started talking about Canada and why we never Visited Canada before ...and about raising a family in Canada, she even spoke about bilingualism in her family and her kidz and that to me showed a great empathy and charisma on her Behalf and made us feel comfortable .At the end , all she requested is an updated FBI certificate and Proof of funds and that was it, she wished us luck, our visa were ready 3 months later.

Could you pls let us know what the officer asked you in detail. That would help us prepare for the interview. Also as I know that my background check is complete can i expect that if the interivew is successful, will they issue the PR visa immediately?

skilledworker2006,

the questions will depend on your situation, background, education etc,... expect any question... every applicant has different issues. Just be honest in your answers cause they already did their checks... I doubt that they will issue you the PR visa on the spot. And they will not inform you whether you passed or not cause it is not a SELECTION Interview.

Hello Everyone

Thanks CanadianWannaBe for providing the info...

I just want to comment on one thing though you mentioned

... I doubt that they will issue you the PR visa on the spot. And they will not inform you whether you passed or not cause it is not a SELECTION Interview.

I don't think that's really true, that they won't inform you if you have passed or not since its not a selection interview. I carefully reviewed my CAIPS and the SELDEC was earlier a 4 and in the new CAIPS had been changed to a 0. I know 4 means interview waiver. So technically atleast in my case its a selection interview and they should tell me yes or no on the spot...skilledworker u need to check ur CAIPS on this one too...

Also, based on what other people have posted...when they went for the interview, especially after interview waiver...they were always told if it was a yes or no...at this point there is nothing left for them to say, since everything is over, medicals, background etc...what they might ask yes is to redo medicals or provide some new info...which is'nt also too frequent.

Also it does depend on the IO's mood too I guess. I guess one thing we have to always remember is everyone's case is evaluated and treated in a different way, so what happens in one scenario doesnt necessary mean it will be applicable in another person's.

A lot of people got their interview date one year later after they recived an interview notification letter (for those cases of initialinterview waiver and medicals over)but skilled worker, u got urs in an amazing time frame..6 months!!

Anyways, bottom line is I wish everybody gets their PPR eventually, and I am sending positive thoughts and energy to everyone on this thread....I know positive thinking goes a long way....so once again...thank u all for sharing ur perspectives, info and for keeping this thread going...

Lets all hope this journey comes to an end soon with a positive experience and lets keep the good vibes flowing..also canadianwannabe, I do hope u get ur PPR soon and ur wait ends as well....because I know what a dreadful feeling this wait is...so keep the positive energy flowing...I believe and know u will get it one day...hopefully soon....by the way when did u order ur CAIPS last...and did it say when ur background check started?
