I received the request from the CIC London requesting for my updated forms and papers .. it is mentioned in it that I need to send in the exact fee .. What i am confused is that when i applied in 2006 with the simplified process i paid the $550 as processing fee.. on the website of cic.gc.ca .. it says i need to pay $550 (processing fee) + $490 (RPRF) .. soo do i now need to send a draft of 490 only or $1090 ???? pls help .. thank you very much |

ssa veer...!! Bikram, i guess you and me are sailing in same boat. I too had some hopes before this list was published..!!but it looks like only gate open is through arranged employment which is quiet hard to arrange without a visa..!!so it's kind of deadlock..!!did you manage to find out any way?
regards, arpit

I feel now Canada is a destination for managers only. I am not sure on what basis they have decided the 38 occupations. People at managerial levels will already be well settled and getting good salaries in their homelands. Moreover, why the govt has excluded the Engineers, ultimately they are the ones who do the things. It is kind of creating a bill for elite class. My occupation falls in 2171 and 2173. Now seeing only 0213 on the list is frustrating. They should have published major occupation lists..

Hi....I am new to the group and i liked the responses of the group members. I had a question if any one can help. My husband after his bachelor's degree (in veterinary medicine) came to USA for his PhD ( without any work experience). He has been a research assistant in a reputed US university for last four years. He gets paid as part time (20hrs per week). I joined him in US about 10 months back. We want to apply for canadian PR under skilled worker category. We can either apply as him being a primary applicant right now, as his qualifications are better then me and he has worked in US as part time for 4 years but he lacks full time work experience and his expertise is not in the new list or we can apply me as being a primary applicant. I have got a Master's degree in biotechnology and teaching experience in a private university - teaching B.Tech and B.Sc students, for 1.5 years. Me being a primary applicant will not only show work experience but also my occupation is listed in the new list as 4131 College and Other Vocational Instructors. But for this we have to wait until i complete one full year of residence in US so that i can apply from US. Can any one comment on our situation as to which way is better to apply - me as a primary applicant or my husband as a primary applicant ? |

Hi I am new to this immigration. So please if anyone can tell Is this the right time to apply for Immigration of Canada? As they changed the immigration rules applicable from Feb 2009. If I send them application in Jan 09 they will consider it before as I am from computers(IT) background and they dont have IT people in their new list. |

Hello All,
I am a newbie as well, my question is directed to Kaanthan123's post, however anyone can answer.
How did you arrange employment, was it through an agency or family member residing in Canada???? Thanks in advance. |

| Desigal83, I think you should be the primary applicant because if your occupation is on the list, you have the experience, then thats all you need. Plus you only need 2 months so you can have 12 months in the US, you can use this time to prepare your application and you can even send ur application a few days before you complete 12 months so it can be received at excatly 1 year from you being in the US. Good luck! |

I am not an authority on immigration to canada. But I have been regular with this and other forums. After the new minister's arrival rules have changed w.e.f. feb 2008 and not feb 2009. so if you submit our application now it is under the new rules and only those applications falling under the 38 listed occupations will be considered... see cic website.
hope this suffices. |

Veerdip....This might help you...including teachers
Canada immigration to introduce three year work permit 15/12/2008 by Gareth McConnell
The Canadian federal government is to announce a change in key immigration rules offering a three-year Canadian work permit for skilled professionals instead of the present one year.
Immigrants from the US and Mexico in jobs such as engineering, accountancy or teaching will benefit from the new longer Canadian visa.
"We are trying to get all the skilled people we can to Canada quickly," Citizenship and Immigration Minister Jason Kenney. "The last thing we want is to strangle a Canadian company that's ready to grow because of a shortage of labour."
"Even though we are going into a period of economic difficulty, we continue to have a number of skilled labour shortages in certain areas of the economy."
Granting a visa to work in Canada for a three-year increment will mean Canadian companies can count on skilled immigrants to complete projects, lowering costs and making companies more competitive.
