| I have just started to explore the application process, but I have some questions about my eligibility to apply for immigration as a skilled worker. I'm a software engineer and my occupation fits in the NOC code 2173. But this code is not listed in the Ministerial Instructions. Does that mean I'm not eligible? I'm in the US on an H1-B visa and wish to immigrate to Canada. Can somebody please provide some information? |

Cappl please see the list that you must fall under to apply as a skilled worker under the new system (listed below). If your main duties as a software engineer is similar to the ones listed for a computer info systems manager then maybe you could apply using that code instead.
0111: Financial Managers 0213: Computer and Information Systems Managers 0311: Managers in Health Care 0631: Restaurant and Food Service Managers 0632: Accommodation Service Managers 0711: Construction Managers 1111: Financial Auditors and Accountants 2113: Geologists, Geochemists and Geophysicists 2143: Mining Engineers 2144: Geological Engineers 2145: Petroleum Engineers 3111: Specialist Physicians 3112: General Practitioners and Family Physicians 3141: Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists 3143: Occupational Therapists 3142: Physiotherapists 3151: Head Nurses and Supervisors 3152: Registered Nurses 3215: Medical Radiation Technologists 3233: Licensed Practical Nurses 4121: University Professors 4131: College and Other Vocational Instructors 6241: Chefs 6242: Cooks 7213: Contractors and Supervisors, Pipefitting Trades 7215: Contractors and Supervisors, Carpentry Trades 7217: Contractors and Supervisors, Heavy Construction Equipment Crews 7241: Electricians (Except Industrial and Power System) 7242: Industrial Electricians 7251: Plumbers 7252: Steamfitters, Pipe fitters and Sprinkler System Installers 7265: Welders and Related Machine Operators 7312: Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanics 7371: Crane Operators 7372: Drillers and Blasters – Surface Mining, Quarrying and Construction 8221: Supervisors, Mining and Quarrying 8222: Supervisors, Oil and Gas Drilling and Service 9212: Supervisors, Petroleum, Gas and Chemical Processing and Utilities
If you could get a job offer then you could approach your application in that way.
Hope this helps good luck.

As far as I know if you listed an e-mail address on your application they embassy will use this as their main way of communication. However if you did not list an e-mail address they would definately use the post.

Hi Tutty
This letter has been sent to various persons all over the world. This is simply a letter that is asking you if you want to go ahead or not with the application. I suspect this is to help reduce the backlog they currently face. Your friend should just ignore the letter as they will go ahead and process their case as per normal.

So they do not know what to do and what they mean. Do they need to send them that, they want to go ahead with their appl. or just wait?
Looking frwd soon, Best Regards,

Hi Bers
I think you should try and increase your points. You will be turned down if you do not meet all their requirements. See if you can improve on your scores by improving on your language skills and do the language Test.

Hi...
I heard and read on the website that the eligibility for citizenship for Canada is 1095 days during 4 years...!!!! Are there any recent changes in this? Was it not 2 years instead of 3 years (1095 days)......????? Any input regarding this would be appreciated. Thanks...

Hi everyone,
I am newbie here and want to describe my case. Please if someone can help me let post answer here.
At December 15-Th, I have sent my application to Sydney NS, CA (new procedure) as describe this http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/EG7.pdf guide. My application package I have sent with regular post despite this is an insecure method. At this time I didn't knew that delivery through courier is not so expensive. At February 04-Th I still not received any confirmation from Sydney NS, CA. I have tried to find some e-mail or phone number for contact but with lack of successes. Actually in February 3-th I sent inquiry letter to Bucharest, Romania asking them what is going on with my application and what about my fees which I pay in Euro. Here is their answer:
Dear Sir,
Thank you for your message.
Please be advised that we have no control over the applications submitted in Nova Scotia, Sydney and no contact with that office.
You may wish to note that in your case, the processing fee is not to be paid at Banca Transilvania in Romania or at Union Bank in Bulgaria in Euros. If you have done so, your application will be returned to you as incomplete due to incorrect method of payment. Please await patiently their correspondence.
For detailed information on the federal skilled worker program, please go to:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/index.asp
For more detailed information, consult the Federal Skilled Worker Application Package.
For detailed information on payment of processing fees in your case, please visit: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/EG75.asp
This answer kills me completely. Because I have ask them about payment and they answer me that I should read the main site of http://www.cic.gc.ca. and sent funds according to instructions given on the site. The instructions are I should transfer fees to Visa Office that is responsible for m#1097; country (Bulgaria) and this office is Bucharest, RO. Now there are four questions that I have:
1.If Sydney NS, CA return my application how to pay fees? 2.Is it possible to return my funds from Bucharest and resent them to new bank (for Receiver General for Canada) as is described here ? 3.How long I should wait for AOR (Acknowledgment of Recipient)? 4.I gave my e-mail address for correspondence. Is it possible to not receive AOR due to some restrictions of Sydney Office? I mean they just don't want to show their e-mail address....
Thanks in advance!!! |

Does anyone know if the pre-screening application submission at Sydney, Nova Scotia gives an email confirmation when they receive and process the application? At this point I'm reduced to calling my bank to put a trace on my international draft to check and see if its been processed, and its not a very good way of knowing.
Who has been accepted via Sydney before they send the results back, and what is the experience like? I'm still waiting, been a week since I submitted my paperwork and its likely not even gotten there yet, should be there within the next few business days. |
