| it may be illegal according to indian laws to give an indian passport to someone , but there is no other way around it, the only alternative is to go in person. |

The passports cannot cross political borders thru normal courier ... i think that applies to all passports.
There was another post on this forum that a spouse has carried 2 passports to get it stamped. Ibraheem's suggestion looks like the best idea |

ask your spouse (Pakistani) to go to pakistan...he should carry (both)the passports to Pakistan.....once he gets to Pakistan he can send passports to CHC Islamabad for Visa stamping and issuance of COPR......then when he gets them back from CHC he can travel back to Dubai with both your and his own passport. he doesnt need to go to CHC in person....just send via courier within the country. CHC Islamabad accepts passports thru courier and returns them via courier.it should be ok.
hope that helps. |

OK, here's the deal. You cannot send your Indian passport through a courier service (as per passport rules). But you can adopt either of the following- 1. Send your passport through your spouse or blood relations (even a reliable friend) 2. DHL International carries passports. Now in both the above cases you need to do the following: 1. Provide a letter of authorization addressed to the US customs stating the reason why you are sending the passport out of the country. 2. Copy of the passport request letter sent by CIC.
I used DHL and I am so glad I did it. I faced no issues in sending my passport out of India. Now, do yourself a favor and do not talk to the passport office or any consulate as thay will just go by the book which really will not serve your holy purpose. All the best! |

| its illegal to send passports through courier in Jordan, but I sent them, I did not have other choice, it worked fine, the only problem you would face is in case of the passport get lost, otherwise it should be alright. |

alright people stop confusing them.......they're in UAE and need stamping from Islamabad........they're not in USA or other place.
his/her pakistani spouse can carry her passport to pakistan to get it stamped...end of story.
Ranjana...check CHC Islamabad's website regarding further instructions on submission of passports for Visas:

thanks for all the responses.
we inquired from DHL but they refused to carry the passports. A friend of us is ready to take our passports......but i've emailed to CIC islamabad and waiting for their response. May be they can suggest some other way, like by sending visa to cic abu dhabi....
one more question.....CIC has asked for the photographs but have not mentioned the photograph specifications like size and background color etc. Please let me know abt this also.
thanx, ranjana.

Is it okay if i ask cic to postpone our visa stamping for couple of months as I can get visa for pak by the end of feb. I can go to pak in the first week of march.
Our medicals will expire of 7th of april. PPR letter is dated 28th dec , that means passports should reach them by 28th jan. Is it ok to ask them for the stamping in march.
I know my hubby can carry my passport but still it is very risky to send indian passport to pak.
Thanx much. |

if you have a valid reason, they would wait as long as you receive your visa in good time, beware though don't ask them to send visas for pick up to abu dhabi office, because this may mean a file transfer which may cause significant delays, just confirm that you will send passport soon and give approximate time and reason for this delays. good luck |

| If one is able to send PPS from India by DHL International services then its truly the best. B'coz there are so many applicants who return frm the middle east to their home countries upon receipt of PPR... And as we all know sending pps frm india is illegal as per Govt rules.. but if you stick to such rules then u are the loser... So just as Bandy said above use any of the two services provided to send your pps for visa stamping... Wishing all our friends the very best.... |

I would say, send the passports along with someone to Pakistan. Please note that separate authorization letters are required to carry the passports for each member of the family. I would highly advise keeping a photocopy of the passport request you received as well. Once it reaches Pakistan, any member of your family can go to Canadian Consulate's office and get the stamping done. Please note that valid representative forms need to be filled out for a third person to get the passports stamped.
DO NOT send passports through courier or any form of postal services. Please think about the hassles of going through the government offices once the passports are seized. |

Hi,
Sending passports through posts is not allowed only in few countries like India & Pak...
I'd a similar situation, I was in India and my wife in her country. She courierd the PP to a frnd in one of the GCC, he was travelling to india, brought it with him. And I forwarded all our apssports to the CIC in India. Ofcourse I was in India throughout the stamping process.
So the right way to do it is one of the spouse to take the PP and then forward it to the CIC.
Cheers. |

Well, I was open about the kind of 'document' I was couriering through DHL. They were okay with carrying my passport as I provided the supporting documents. I received my passport through Fedex. I dunno, but this works though officially this is not "allowed" by the passport office. |
