Hello,
Just a quick question. I was charged 350$ for sponsoring my wife for the Certicat de sélection du Québec (within Canada). I was wondering if I was overcharged, because I was sure I would pay 250$. The fees detailed say that it's 250$ for the principal applicant, and 100$ for everyone else implied in the engagement. Does that mean that I pay 100$ for myself? I thought it meant that it was 100$ for any additional person.
Thanks for clarifying this for me.

| It should be 250$ if you're only sponsoring one person. At least that's the way I understood it. Who charged you exactly? I'm about to send mine this week and I'm sending them 250$. |

| Yeah, they really ****. It's worth your 100$ to contact them though, I'd say. |

If I remember correctly, when we paid by credit card, we had to fill out a form in order to do so. Is it possible you accidentally wrote 350, and not 250. Did you keep a copy of the Credit Card Payment form? That's your proof right there. Even if it was them who made the mistake, the form is your proof for a $100 refund either way. Best of luck. |

Hello,
I went to the offices of Immigration Québec yesterday, to see what was going on with this. On the phone they told me to send them a letter by fax to reclaim my 100$, but I figured that by going in person it would make things go faster...and what a good idea it was.
Not only did I get them to reimburse me quickly, the Certicat de sélection was given to me within a couple of hours since the 20 open days delay was overdue by 10 days already.

Hello RedDust How long did you wait to receive the forms of CSQ from MICC after the federal sponsorship approval? My sponsorship was approved on 30th May and I’m still waiting for CSQ forms.

Hey lilil - It took us 9-10 weeks to get those forms from MICC - but that was back in late January when we rec'd them. It seems the amount of time is increasing.
RedDust explained in another post that it took MICC a total of 16 weeks (between February and June) to get the undertaking and CSQ forms to them. This seems to ring true for others currently waiting to hear from MICC. It may mean you won't receive them until late Septmeber or so, unless they start speeding up their delivery of the forms. Good luck. |

Hello lilil,
We are still waiting for the federal approval. CIC says on their website that all applications have been processed until november 20th 2006, and they got our application that precise day. We are expecting the first step of approval pretty soon, along with the work certificate. _____________________
About jonjon's post now. MICC did take 16 weeks to send me the forms after the federal government sent me the letter saying that my file was sent to Quebec for the CSQ application. You can "rush" them by sending them a fax asking for your csq file to be opened asap. I don't know if that really helps, but after my 2nd fax, they finally sent it. They kept telling me that the volume of applications sent to them was overwhelming. |

| I hope the waiting could be shorter for us as well! We filed an outside PR application and 16 weeks is a long delay in our case… I will wait until the end of July and the start to contact them for the forms |

| Hi, the delay in our pr application because of the CSQ forms was an additional 2 months. We requested for the english reference form, but they ran out. |

Seriously, they told you they ran out? What a mess they are!! What - they don't have it on a saved file on a computer somewhere?? MICC is so ridiculous. We get charged an extra $250 and wait weeks or months for a set of relatively blank forms - and they cannot print out the reference form for you?
I am more appalled by their behavior as time passes. I have half a mind to file a complaint on behalf of all those going through Quebec's process as well. I researched and found out that MICC is violating their own policies in the Canada-Quebec Accord (with respect to immigration) by allowing these wait times to extend so far. It's the agreement's "policy" though, and the MICC is not legally obligated, to keep total processing times relatively equal to those applying to live in other provinces.
Of course I will have to wait until after I land before complaining. I don't wanna rock the boat with the shore so clearly close, so to speak. |
