Hi all,
I'm a Singaporean woman married to a Canadian man.

Canada in Missisuaga received my hubby application to sponsor me on January 8, 2008. They sent him a letter on January 28, 2008 about the decision (approval)on his sponsor application. Then my PR application was sent to the Spore Visa Office and the Singapore office started processing my PR application on February 13, 2008. As I just got my new Spore passport so I sent the spore visa office an email updating my new passport number on 4 June. I just received an email from them today (10 June) that they will contact me within the next few days for my police certificates.Below is an extract of their reply email to me.

"Once your application is finalized and approved, you will need to send us your passport for visa issuance. You can not use your permanent residence visa within Canada - you will need to land in Canada with your visa at the port of entry. We have updated your passport information in our system. You will be contacted within the next few days for your police certificates"

I do not quite understand their reply & have a few questions abt the above:
1) As I do not wish to be apart from my hubby for too long, I will be flying over to Canada end July. Do I have to fly back to Singapore to complete the formalities when my PR application is approved? Or could i do that in Canada?
2) What are the remaining procedures after police certs that require my presence in singapore? Does the interview come next?

I know my post is a bit longish....a million sorries to all...I'm just very anxious and want to post as much actual info here as possible....if anyone has any answers or opinions at all, pls let me know....

thanks in advance

If you are temporarily in Canada when the PR visa is ready to be issued by the overseas CHC/visa office, then you can have your passport and landing papers sent to you in Canada. Then you will need to get to the nearest border crossing and land by exiting and re-entering.

Hi vanatomic

Did you use this letter where they mentioned they will contact you within next few days for your police certificates to get your CNCC from SPF? How did you manage to get your CNCC cos I understand that you will need a letter to show them that the cert is required.

Thanks

Hi,

I'm awaiting the decision to sponsor my wife with Singapore. Here is my timeline.
Submit Application - Nov 2008

Dec 23 2008 - CPC Singapore - Started Processing -
Oct 15 2009 - CPC Singapore - Requested Additional Docs - Med, Police, my income and employer's letters (I have been between jobs)

My question is, on Oct 15th when they requested additional documents, they had returned all other documents we submitted (pictures, etc) They didn't indicate if we've passed the previous stages or an interview is required. The request of these additional docs is a good indication? The next step is the online application status would show medical report received?

Obviously this wait has been taxing. We've been married almost two years and I've gone back to Vietnam a few times now. It's definitely hurt my career and we just want to be united and start on a new life.

Please add my timeline to the list and thanks for your questions and insights.
