Hello guy,
I did my citizenship test on January 2008, and I am still waiting for the ceremony. any idea how long will it take and what to do in this case.
I talk to the citizenship and immegration on the phone almost every week and they do not say how long it will take.

any idea how long will it take to get the security background check ?

thanks

There are 3 types of clearance required to appear for the test and for the Oath.
1. CIC clearance
2. CSIS clearance
3. RCMP clearance
In general they are valid anywhere between 6month – 1yr (I am not certain about validity period for individual clearance). So if your clearance expire after the test, CIC must get them once again before they can schedule you for oath.
CIC clearance and CSIS clearance are pretty quick, but RCMP takes about 3-4 months or longer in special cases. Faster clearance from RCMP would result in earlier oath date.
Good luck!
