Did you have to move to India in the interim?

Hi - Kandareen,

For the past five years we have been experiencing severe hardship, physical and mental stress. There is no specific reason behind long time between each action. I suppose this is how their system works.  I've been doing short term contract Jobs for almost 4 years now so that I can spend time with my family here in India.  Since 2006 I've made 10 round trips to India plus had to hire reputed attorney for 2 rounds of hearing. Now I am financially exhausted and just fed up with this broken CIC system.

Hope year 2010 will bring us some good news.

Regards

AGM

I was told by the immigration officer (great guy, always returned my call and emails) that my security/background check took almost 5 months because i live in canada and i applied through new delhi. The RCMP is really busy (high case load) and they are taking appro 6 months or so for checks. He also said, if i was residing in india the process wouldve finished way sooner.

Anyways all's well that ends well. Now i have to gather information on how to drive to the border and get the last leg of process done there. Any advice will be highly appreciated.

thanks

p.s- my wife sponsored me.

Congratulations gsinha, it is always nice to hear good news!

What border are you looking at going to; if it is Buffalo I suggest you don't go to Lewiston.  Peace and Rainbow bridge are both good options.  If you call CIC 1 888 242‑2100, they could best advise you what to bring and your next step.

I wish you all the best and a prosperous future.

Hello sanjayk and AGM, thank you for joining and sharing your experiences here with us.  You are both obviously more familiar with the process and any information you feel you can add would be most appreciated.

I have some questions that come to mind:
One member here had passport request, no documents returned and than they still asked for a piece document...any thoughts.

My husband got a call Dec 8th saying he was approved, gave him his immigration file number and asked him to send passport (ND received passport Dec 9th) but they are still holding on to all our documents at this stage... any thoughts.

Finally, did you notice any slow down in ND processing at the end of 2008; I am hoping there will be a rush of visa's approved this month because of the back log of applications still coming in each day.  I say this because on the old forum, timeline for beginning of 2009 was quick (3 months from Mississauga to receiving passport) up to May 2009...then it started to slow down gradually to a trickle.

Any observations or trends you have observed would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Gang...

I heard back from our case specific inquiry that we emailed to ND on Dec. 23. We needed to let them know that my hubby's cell phone would be off for a couple of days back then, giving an alternate number. I wrote to them as his legal representative with a copy of a hand signed letter by me (same as email) and a copy of the signed legal rep. form. I took the same opportunity to ask the status of his case. We just heard back from them today and this is all they wrote:

This is in response to your recent email enquiry to the Immigration Section of the Canadian High Commission in New Delhi.

Please be advised that your file is under review and our office would contact you, once the processing is complete.

We trust that this information will be of assistance.
