A new cost of living survey has found that the cost of living in Canada's major cities has decreased in the past year. The survey, which was conducted by human-resource agency Mercer, ranked 143 cities in relation to the costs of everyday expenses such as housing, transport, food and clothing.
Toronto, the most expensive of all Canadian cities, was ranked at number 82 - 35 places lower than its ranking last year. Ottawa was ranked as the least expensive of Canada's cities, coming in at 109. Vancouver, Montreal and Calgary were all listed between.
The drop in costs has been attributed to many factors such as Canada's low rate of inflation, stable housing prices and the value of the Canadian dollar. While the cost of living in Canada's major cities declines, another recent survey has ranked the same 5 cities as being in the top 25 worldwide in terms of quality of life.
