Immigration.ca - Canada Immigration News - March 2008
Last week, the Canadian government announced that it has lifted visitor visa requirements from four more European Union countries.
Visitors from Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Lithuania will no longer require visas to enter Canada. This change means that now 25 of the 27 member nations of the European Union enjoy unrestricted temporary access to Canada.
Only two EU member nations still require visitor visas- Bulgaria and Romania. However, the government plans to assess this policy in the near future and will likely move toward lifting the requirement for these two nations as well.
In a statement released by the Department of Citizenship and Immigration, the government stated that they will “conduct technical visits to these countries as part of the ongoing review to determine when visa requirements can be removed.”
