The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) allows the province to nominate candidates to the federal government for permanent resident status under one of the following eight categories:

  • Skilled Worker

Under this category, candidates must have a permanent full-time job offer from a Saskatchewan employer. There are three sub-categories:

    • Skilled Workers/Professionals
Permanent full-time employment which is classified as skill level “A” or “B” in the National Occupational Classification, or is a designated trade (i.e. designated by the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission).
    • Critical Occupations
Permanent full-time employment in a management position (skill level “0” in the National Occupational Classification).
    • Existing Work Permit
Candidates have to have worked in Saskatchewan for at least six months on a work permit (skill level “A” or “B” in the National Occupational Classification or a designated trade).

  • Entrepreneur

This category is designed for those looking to establish, acquire or partner in a business in Saskatchewan and be actively involved in its management. Candidates can either apply through the general Entrepreneur Category or through one of three streams: Large Scale Investor (investment of $10 million or more, applications are given priority processing), Young Farmer (less than forty years old, $300 000 net worth and farming experience) or Science and Technology (commercialization of ideas/patents). Candidates make a minimum investment of $150 000, be involved in the day-to-day management of the business and make a good faith deposit of $75 000.

  • Long Haul Truck Drivers

Candidates must work in Saskatchewan for an approved trucking firm on a work permit. If they are offered a full-time permanent position, they can apply to the SINP.

  • Family Members

Immigrant families living in Saskatchewan can support family members wishing to immigrate to Saskatchewan.

  • Farm Owners/Operators

Individuals with farming experience wishing to invest in a Saskatchewan farming operation.

  • Health Professionals

Candidates (physicians and nurses) have to have worked in Saskatchewan with a work permit for at least six months and then apply for permanent resident status through SINP.

  • Hospitality Sector Project

This project allows the Saskatchewan government to nominate foreign workers currently working in the hospitality sector in Saskatchewan.

  • Student

Candidates must have graduated from a recognized post-secondary institution in Canada and worked for at least six months for a Saskatchewan employer under a CIC post-graduate work permit.

Average processing times for the entire process (SINP application and federal application) is 13 months.
