The Evidence of a Common-Law Union and Cohabitation
Purpose: For validating claims concerning the marital status of the applicant
Document Requirements:
- The applicant would need to provide this document only if:
- The applicant indicates a marital status as common-law
- The applicant would need to provide:
- Evidence of cohabitation for a period of at least 12 successive months and,
- A Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union form (IMM 5409)
- Evidence of cohabitation could typically include:
- Copies of joint bank account statements
- Copies of leases
- Utility bills
The Individuals who would need to submit this documentation:
- The principal applicant
