2017 Express Entry Draw #17: Slight Decline in CRS Score, 3,202 ITAs issued

by Colin R. Singer / Wednesday, 12 July 2017 / Published in 2017, Canada Immigration News Articles

July 12, 2017 – Canadian Immigration authorities conducted the 17th round of invitations under Express Entry in 2017 and 67th overall, inviting 3,202 applicants for permanent residence, under all programs. The lowest Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score was 440, higher than most in 2017 but lowers that the previous draw.

2017 Express Entry Draw #17: Slight Decline in CRS Score, 3,202 ITAs issuedIt was the 16th draw in 2017 under the Express Entry System where the lowest CRS score was well below 500. It was the 2nd draw since immigration authorities substantially modified the Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System on June 6, 2017.  The latest draw factors in all applications in the pool who received additional points under the recent changes.

Express Entry is an immigration system implemented by Canadian immigration authorities (IRCC) on January 1, 2015 which manages skilled worker applications under Federal Economic programs. This includes the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Skilled Trades Program the Canada Experience Class and certain parts of the Provincial Nominee Program.

Stakeholders expect to see near 30 draws and up to 70,000 invitations issued in 2017, with majority of draws featuring CRS scores well below 450 to enable Canadian immigration authorities to meet targeted annual immigration levels for 2017.

              What This Means For Candidates

It is expected that the majority of applicants to be issued (ITA’s) under Canada’s Express Entry Immigration system in 2017 will require a CRS score well under 450 points, enabling a significant number of applicants to receive permanent admission to Canada without a job offer or nomination under a provincial immigration program.  However, securing an approved offer of employment is highly recommended.   Watch our Face Book LiveStream video on how to find jobs in Canada from overseas.
