May 26, 2017 – British Columbia immigration’s prolific provincial nominee program conducted its ninth draw on May 24, 2017, issuing 365 new invitations to apply.
The latest draw continued the recent trend towards skilled workers under the BC PNP, accounting for a combined 193 of the ITAs under Canada Express Entry and direct provincial streams.
There were also 130 invited for international graduates, with 58 coming under Express Entry and 72 through the specific provincial stream.
That left 42 invites for entry-level and semi-skilled workers.

Skilled workers were again favoured in the previous B.C. immigration draw, conducted on May 10, 2017. Of the total 364 invitations to apply issued, 192 of them went to skilled workers. There were still 125 invites for graduates, while 47 invites went to entry level and semi-skilled workers.

A coveted provincial nomination effectively guarantees selection under the Canada Express Entry System, worth 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points. Canada has not seen a draw with a minimum points score above 500 in the whole of 2017.
The British Columbia immigration office publishes the scores immigrants need to guarantee an invitation for Canada immigration under its programs.
The score needed for an international graduate is 30 points below a skilled worker under both the Canada Express Entry and provincial stream.
For entry-level and semi-skilled workers, that score is lower again.
