Appendix A – The Ministerial Instructions (MIs)
The Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) of 2002 is the legislative authority for Canada’s immigration program. It contains various provisions that enable the Minister to issue special instructions to immigration officers. These instructions typically help the Government of Canada to achieve its immigration goals in the best manner possible. The Minister will usually issue Ministerial Instructions (MIs) for limited stretches of times. In addition, these Ministerial Instructions (MIs) could touch on a diverse range of subjects and issues such as:
- Temporary resident processing and,
- Federal skilled worker selection and application intake measures
