December 24, 2018 – Minimum scores rose sharply as 492 candidates received Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in the latest Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program draw.
After falling from 602 in the November draw to 375 points in the December 5 draw, the minimum score for eligible candidates under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream rose to 576 points in the last draw for 2018.
106 Invitations to Apply were issued to SWM candidates.
Minimum scores for applicants to the Human Capital Pathway of the Skilled Workers Overseas stream continued to fall, from 596 in the December 5 draw to 576 points in the latest draw.
Number of invitations issued rose to 307, as compared to 255 in the previous draw.
Manitoba conducted the first draw under the International Education Stream and issued invitations to 35 candidates.
With three pathways, the IES stream exempts international students in Manitoba from the six-month work experience requirement and offers a direct route to provincial nomination.
Career Employment Pathway
Eligibility requirements include:
- Completed a one-year or longer course from an eligible post-secondary Manitoba institution within three years of submission of application.
- Have a full-time job offer in a Manitoba In-Demand occupation related to the completed degree
- Resident of Manitoba
Graduate Internship Pathway
Masters and Doctoral degree holders who have completed Mitacs Accelerate or Elevate internships can apply for nomination through internships even without a job offer in the province.
Student Entrepreneur Pathway
Eligibility requirements include:
- Completed a two-year or longer course from an eligible post-secondary Manitoba institution
- Six months business operation experience in Manitoba
- Resident of Manitoba since graduation.
- No specific minimum personal net worth requirement
Lastly, 44 candidates scoring 718 points or higher received invitations through the Strategic Recruitment Initiative, a part of the SWO stream.

213 candidates to the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream scoring 375 points or higher received invitation to apply.
For Skilled Workers Overseas stream, 62 invites were issued under the Strategic Recruitment Initiative while 255 invites were issued under the Human Capital Pathway stream with the lowest-ranking candidate scoring 596 points.
