December 21, 2018 – Ontario has nominated 6,850 immigration candidates in 2018 through the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).
The province says it will issue no more nominations in 2018, after receiving an increase on its initial federal government allocation of 6,600.
Any applications currently being considered will not receive nominations until 2019.
An OINP statement said: “The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program has finished processing the increase to its 2018 nomination allocation and has started to notify successful applicants.
“New applications, and applications which have already been submitted to the OINP, will continue to be accepted and considered under the OINP’s 2019 nomination allocation.”

Ontario has conducted regular draws throughout 2018 targeting streams including the Human Capital Priorities, French Speaking Skilled Worker, Skilled Trades and Entrepreneur.
The majority of draws, particularly in the second half of the year, have been aimed at the FSSW stream. The draws have generally been small in size, inviting less than 50 candidates on a weekly basis.
Ontario’s largest draw of the year came through the HCP stream, with 947 candidates invited in August 2018.
The recently-released federal government immigration levels plan forecasts an increase of 6,000 PNP immigrants in 2019, to 61,000.
Increases are expected to continue until at least 2021, when the government plans to welcome 71,300 PNP immigrants.
