October 13, 2017 – Category B of the Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry stream closed hours after opening for up to 300 new applications.
The Nova Scotia immigration office announced it would open the stream on Wednesday, October 11, and it was closed again later the same day. The province had warned the stream would close as soon as the intake limit was reached.
The category does not require a job offer. Candidates need a year of experience in one of the province’s targeted occupations, listed below.
Category B was last open for 250 applications in July 2017, when the available places were again taken within hours, showing the popularity of the program.
It is not known whether the category will open again in 2017.
Category B Requirements: Nova Scotia Express Entry
- One year of skilled work experience in one of the target occupations.
- Canadian high school credential or equivalent.
- Proven language ability in English or French at Canadian Language Benchmark 7.
- Score 67 points or more on six selection factors.
- Have the financial resources to successfully settle in Nova Scotia;
- Have a Canada Express Entry profile registered.

- Arranged employment in Nova Scotia
- Adaptability (including spouse/partner’s credentials)
Category A of the stream does require a job offer and is kept open indefinitely.

- Full-time permanent skilled job offer from a Nova Scotia employer.
- One year of skilled work experience related to the job.
- Canadian high school credential or equivalent.
