June 27, 2018 – A new batch of technology skilled workers have been pushed to the front of the line of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program.
The province conducted its latest BC Tech Pilot draw on June 20, inviting 26 candidates to apply.
Waiting times are cut for the most in-demand skilled workers under the pilot.
It aims to boost the BC technology industry.
To qualify for the Express Entry skilled worker and international graduate streams, candidates needed to score 96 points.
Under the direct provincial streams, skilled workers needed 90 points and international graduates 96.

The previous draw, dates June 13, saw 163 candidates invited across all the province’s immigration streams.
Express Entry candidates under the skilled worker and international graduate streams required a minimum of 96 points to get invited.
For the direct provincial streams, international graduates needed 96 points, while skilled workers needed 90. Entry-level and semi-skilled workers needed 65 points.

A coveted provincial nomination effectively guarantees selection under the Canada Express Entry System, worth 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points.
The B.C. PNP publishes the scores immigrants need to guarantee an invitation for Canada immigration under its programs.
The score needed for an international graduate is 30 points below a skilled worker under both the Canada Express Entry and provincial stream.
For entry-level and semi-skilled workers, that score is lower again.
