Foreign nationals would receive points for a combination of possessing a certificate of qualification in a trade occupation issued by a province along with proficiency in their first official language. The following table provides more details on this.

Is assessed in their first official language under the Canadian Language Benchmarks or the Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens at benchmark level 7 or higher on all language skill areas |

Note:
- To be eligible for receiving points under this category, a foreign national would need to:
- Hold a valid certificate of qualification in a trade occupation issued by a province and,
- Undertake an assessment in the individual’s first official language under the Canadian Language Benchmarks or the Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens at benchmark level 5 or higher on all language skill areas
- To receive the maximum number of points under this category, the foreign national would need to undertake an assessment in the individual’s first official language under the Canadian Language Benchmarks or the Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens at benchmark level 7 or higher on all language skill areas
