              The Provincial and Territorial Contacts

Last Updated on August 5, 2015

Provincial and territorial departments are responsible for administering apprenticeship programs. This is because these departments are responsible for education, labour and training based on the authority delegated from the legislation in each province and territory. Typically, the provincial and territorial Director of Apprenticeship provides guidance on this.

The Canadian Council of Directors of Apprenticeship (CCDA) is responsible for the management of the Interprovincial Standards Red Seal Program along with several other activities. The Canadian Council of Directors of Apprenticeship (CCDA) denotes an organisation regrouping:

              • Each provincial or territorial director of apprenticeship and,
              • Two Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) representatives

The Canadian Council of Directors of Apprenticeship (CCDA) works in collaboration with industry to:

              • Develop a skilled labour force and,
              • Facilitate labour mobility throughout Canada

              It achieves this by:

              • Developing, implementing and recognising Red Seal trades and credentials
              • Promoting high standards in occupational training
              • Fostering harmonisation in training among various jurisdictions and,
              • Increasing public awareness of apprenticeship training and certification

Therefore, the authorities encourage tradespersons to contact their local apprenticeships offices for additional information on training and certification at the addresses given below.
