June 6, 2019 – The latest immigration.ca livestream sees immigration lawyer Colin Singer discuss the importance of a job offer in a Canada immigration application.
Managing Partner Singer speaks about some of the jobs that are in-demand through the Canada Express Entry system, and some of the Canadian cities where the job markets are thriving.
Singer highlights how a job offer may be enough to get some candidates over the line for a coveted Express Entry Invitation to Apply, where it can be worth either 50 or 200 points.
Meanwhile, others should consider coming to Canada on a work permit and using the job offer combine with 12 months of experience to boost their chances of permanent residence.

“You have to look at what that job offer can do,” Singer says.
“Is it not just about the 50 points. For some, applying through a provincial nominee program with a sponsoring employer will be enough to get into Canada through Express Entry.
“Outside of Express Entry, if you have a sponsoring employer, you can get a work permit.
“For some, where 50 points may not be enough, getting into Canada on a work permit and working for 12 months will give you more points. It can be a two-stage process.”
Singer starts with the most recent Express Entry draw, which saw the Comprehensive Ranking System score rise to 470 after four weeks past since the previous draw.

“This highlights the importance of how to improve your score. Really, getting a job offer in hand is the answer for many candidates,” he says.
“Going forwards over the next few draws, the CRS scores will probably go back to the previous levels, in the 450 range, or late 440s.”
Canada is currently in the grip of a major labour shortage, with unemployment at an all time low, under 3 per cent is certain areas.
This explains why Canada is in line to issue more than 500,000 works permits in 2019.
“By coming to Canada on a work permit, you’re already working towards qualifying for permanent residence,” Singer says.

“Some of the province have sub-streams that target technology occupations, like British Columbia.

“It is important to realise there are many ways to get into the system.”
